A level 1 skill has a 99% chance to regain >88% XP and a 50% chance to regain >98% XP. The idea being to balance the desire for a challenging game of consequence against the inconvenience of having to start all over after a minor mistake. The base mod has a SandBoxVars variable for a scaling factor, but this is linear.The most common issues for me lately pertain to errors with different mods' distribution tables, as TIS gradually adopts the procedural distributions and makes changes with each update. I fix these easily enough with a simple patch. Basically I Ctrl+F "STACK TRACE", which takes me to the really nasty errors that break the game.

I've been having the same issue, first noticed it when I got a ton of Fitness XP (due to Fit trait) but it seems to happen with other starting skill levels as well.
