With that in mind, I recently created a community on reddit for orchids on trees. For those not familiar with reddit...it's a website where people can submit links and rate them up or down..

Having said that, a standard bark based mix is probably one of the more reliable potting mixes for commonly available epiphytic orchids in cultivation. If you are growing complex hybrid Phalaenopsis, then some home growers have lots of luck with pure sphagnum moss as the media, though I would caution you to stick with very high quality moss. Humidity is such an essential factor for orchids. According to the American Orchid Society, “Virtually all orchids do best when humidity ranges from 40% to 70%.”. However, meeting those conditions can be tricky in terrariums. So you’ll need to select species that can handle a higher level of humidity where possible.

Did you know?

You absolutely can grow these type of orchids in moss so that they get moisture via the medium. Interestingly enough, their roots get much thicker in the medium, rather than these very thin aerial roots. Think about it, in nature they don’t grow in air; they grow attached to a tree with detritus building up around the roots providing nutrients. the most common cause for beginner difficulty in phalaenopsis orchid care is watering/misting too often and too much. an orchid will deteriorate much faster from root rot than from dehydration. the ice cube method is frowned upon by many orchid enthusiasts, but one 'advantage' is that it is a small, measured quantity of water that slowly drips ... I use that too (I only own phals and a couple of dens). I put a couple of spritzes into a large tub of water and dunk the pots in it when I fancy giving them a feed, maybe once a month or so, and just do plain water once a week the rest of the time.

Hybrid vigour isn’t a guaranteed phenomenon. Some species are incredibly easy to grow and some hybrids can be difficult. That said Vanda sanderiana does have a reputation for being hard to grow although there are hybrids that look very similar to the species that are much easier - V. They came with blooms and appeared healthy. Once they dropped the flowers I started noticing mealybugs on one of them. I immediately isolated and treated. Roughly 7 months later, it is still isolated and being treated. The leaf shape is also on par with dendrobiums. I think I got wildly lucky. However, I’m not sure how much I trust the full ID… considering, like I said, I straight up got vandas labels as dendrobium. All in all, definitely dendrobium. Cannot confirm it’s specifically “golden green orchid” (if that’s even an ID tbh). ItsMeKeewa ...8 comments 2 Posted by 3 years ago New orchid isn't looking so good. Hi! I just bought a new orchid at an orchid show a couple of weeks ago, but it seems like I'm not doing something right to care for it. The woman said its an oncidium. Here's a picture of how it looks.I think oncidiums are pretty darn easy, other than potting in some type of orchid media rather than soil and making sure they've got good light they're pretty much like every other houseplant. Once they get established they'll bloom on every new growth with good care so you can get many spikes per year.

Do the hearts, gather all nodes you can find, and they add up. Certainly much faster than blood rubies. Also, if you're far enough through the druid stone collections, you'll start getting fire orchid seeds, which can be traded for orchids at a rate of 5:1 (basically increasing gathering yield by at least 20%) 10.
